Start in aihanmi.  Timing and maai are important. Do not get grabbed. Nage has to get off the line of forward momentum somehow. The back leg slides out a bit then the front leg steps back and slightly off the attack line, but in a way so that a solid hanmi is maintained. At the same time, the back hand comes forward and blends with Uke‘s incoming hand and guides it to about waist-level.

From here, without stopping momentum and without grabbing his wrist, Nage can do many techniques such as kokyunage or iriminage or kotegaeshi.
