Hanmi-Handachi Ushiro Tekubitori Techniques
2010
On our ikkyu test there is a requirement for “hanmi-handachi ushiro waza“. Few people know what this actually means because only one person so far has tested for ikkyu under the new requirements since September, and he had to guess as well.
Really, there could be hanmihandachi ushiro ryokatadori or tekubitori. Conceivably there could be ushiro eridori as well, but if it is not taught then it might not be tested, I think.
There is not much in this journal to date on hanmi-handachi ushiro waza, but here are some variations that were recorded on a 4th-dan test in the U.S.. They could be a good starting point.
Update: 2010.12.28 – For the ikkyu test I will assume the techniques are hanmi-handachi ushiro tekubitori and ushiro ryokatadori. From ushiro tekubitori there is ikkyo ~ yonkyo, kokyunage, shihonage, jujinage, kaitennage, kotegaeshi, and maybe more.
Update: 2010.12.29 – It turned out to be just hanmi-handachi ushiro ryokatadori waza.
